One of my favorite songs is The Summer Wind by old blue eyes himself. For all you kids out there, old blue eyes is Frank Sinatra.
Summer is coming to an end and for all of us here in Phoenix a collective sigh of relief. What a relief after the hottest July on record I think I speak for all of us when I say thank goodness it’s over.
Only in Arizona can we say “it’s a cool 103 today”, I mean 103 degrees! We only complain about heat when it’s over 110, right. Look at it this way, if it never got that hot the snowbirds would stay here all year round. It would be 12 months of blue hair and the relentless flashing of turn signals in that baby blue Oldsmobile going 40mph on the 202 freeway.
So, to get the snowbirds out of town for a while mother nature bakes them till they leave. To live in Arizona you have to be tough. I am from Chicago and I know the cold so all of you reading this screaming that your not tough living in Az and our summers aren’t any big deal. I challenge you to spend a summer without a/c in your car. Then tell me how that heat feels.
My a/c went out and my brother Joey bet me I wouldn’t make it through the summer without fixing it. One thing you should know about me is I don’t like to lose and I love to prove my brother wrong. I took the bet and am proud to say that I have only one week left to Labor Day and I win. Joey will be buying me a fat steak at Mastro’s City Hall Steakhouse. I should’ve bet if he lost he had to wear a dress there too. But, hindsight is 20/20 there’s always next year?
So Phoenicians another simmer I mean summer under our collective belts. It’s time for football and 80 degree winters. Keep the Cardinals in your prayers we need to get that Superbowl trophy here this year and don’t forget to take a limo or party bus to the Cardinals games.
Signing off,
Frankie
